We all get a lot of notifications. As a part of my final Capstone research project, I’m collecting a research data set about where they actually come from, and what for. Each app will be categorized into unique categories as “someone trying to get in contact,” “you need to know something,” and “you want to know something.” These findings tell me exactly what apps and websites are winning the fight for your attention, and help me plan a working research prototype for what a better system looks like for everyone.

If you have any questions, please reach out via email to [email protected]. Your identity will not be traced back to any submissions. Every response is anonymous, and your participation is completely voluntary. This form closes at the end of the day on Wednesday, April 30th.

How to collect data (only do this on one device)

Before you collect data, remember that you are encouraged to use a tool such as Markup to cross out any apps that you find private or sensitive, such as dating or health apps. For more information about how your submitted screenshots are used, visit research.jordanhas.fun.
